These are some of our partnerships with local organizations, as well as a few of our own initiatives to give back to this place we love so much.
Local students can visit CFV to nominate their teacher to be entered into a drawing for a free eye exam and a free pair of glasses.
Not So Normal Run
We will miss the Not So Normal Run, which was a wonderful event CFV employees took part in every year to raise money for local charities.
Blue Ribbon Mentors
A portion of all sales at CFV goes to Blue Ribbon Mentors, which provides students with mentoring, advocacy, college prep, and much more.
United States Postal Service
CFV recently set up a booth at our local USPS Health Fair, where we handed out swag and helped our local mail carriers take care of their eyes.
TROSA helps CFV identify recovering individuals who stand to benefit from top-of-the-line eyecare services as they work to meet their goals.
For the Love of Carrboro
Every year, CFV participates in For the Love of Carrboro by donating 10% of all sales on a day in February to a local charity. This year we teamed up with Farmer Foodshare!
We’ve paired with TABLE in the past to help provide food security and nutritious food options to children in Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
Piedmont Health Centers
We work hand-in-hand with the Carrboro Community Health Center to provide exams to patients in need of specialized medical services.
The longstanding IFC/CFV partnership continues to provide people in our community eyecare they may not otherwise be able to access.
CFV is committed to sustainability, and we strive to be as green as possible. Here are a few of the things we’ve put into practice to help the environment.
CFV has a number of frame brands that take their environmental impact seriously. At the head of that charge is our ECO line. ECO frames are “born recycled”: the Bio-based collection is made with 63% plant-based material, and the Recycled collection is made of 95% recycled material.
To top it all off, ECO’s parent company, MODO, has partnered with the NGO Trees for the Future to plant a tree for every single ECO frame they sell. They’re on track for 2 million trees and counting!
Contact Lens Recycling
It takes a lot of plastic to keep contacts safe for your eyes, particularly if you wear daily lenses. In the past, the only part of contact lenses that could be recycled was the box they came in. Now, thanks to Bausch + Lomb and TerraCycle, you can also recycle your blister packs at CFV.
Blister packs are the little vacuum-sealed containers that house individual contacts. After you open them, save your blister packs and their top foil. Once you have a few stored up, bring them in and we will recycle them for you so the plastic doesn’t end up somewhere it doesn’t belong.
CFV has been a certified bike-friendly business since 2015. The certification is awarded by the Carrboro Bicycle Coalition, which has been identifying and working alongside bike-friendly businesses for years.
We have our own shaded bike rack right next to the building, and we’re happy to hold your helmet at the front desk if you’d like.
